Do Aussie Doctors do social?

With the pressure and gravity of their profession, it’s easy to assume that doctors don’t have the time or inclination to engage in social media.

Recent data shows that’s just not true.

In an online poll held across both Australian Doctor and Medical Observer late last year, we asked our logged in audience how often they engaged with Facebook and Twitter and received an impressive 1203 completions to the poll.

Comparing the results to the 2015 Sensis Social Media Report for the general Australian population, the headline stat is this: where 49% of the general population use social media at least once per day, it’s somewhere between 44% and 55% for GPs.

In other words – doctors get hooked on social too.

While the polls didn’t record respondent age, this probably reflects the age bias in the GP population (older demographics tend to have higher Twitter usage than Facebook).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

SO WHAT?

Social distribution – especially via Facebook – has become a crucial component to content engagement strategies across industries and these poll numbers prove that this opportunity exists in healthcare too. At Cirrus Healthcare, we’re already using our impressive digital audience to connect with GPs in Facebook, driving engagement and results.
